Barry Town United have released their retained players list for the 2026-27 season, with thirteen players from last year's squad set to return. George Ratcliffe, the Cymru Premier goalkeeper of the year, will be back between the posts, along with his backup Joe Thomas. Captain Callum Sainty will also be staying with the club, as will right wing-back Mikey George, who recently made his 200th appearance for Barry Town. Central defenders Keston Davies and Will Richards are on the retained list, as are midfielders Ellis Williams and Owen Cuddihy. St Kitts and Nevis international Theo Wharton, who is in his second spell with the club, is also retained. Barry Town are continuing to support midfielder Eliot Richards, who announced a new cancer diagnosis during the spring. Three players have left the club over the summer, with Ieuan Owen moving to Scottish Premiership club Kilmarnock on a two-year deal. Defender Ben Margetson has moved to local rivals Merthyr, while experienced midfielder Robbie Willmott has decided to end his playing career and move to Cymru South club Newport City as manager. Ryan Kavanagh has retired after suffering an ACL injury last October. Keenan Patten and Jac Norris, both of whom were loan signings from Newport County during the winter transfer window, have returned to their parent club. Josh Beynon and Callum Huggins have been invited to pre-season training with the club. Signings are expected from boss Steve Jenkins in the coming weeks as the club enters pre-season at the start of July. Barry Town United will be looking to build on last season's performance with a strong squad. The club's fans will be eager to see the new signings and how the team will shape up for the upcoming season. With the retained players list announced, attention now turns to the upcoming pre-season fixtures and the start of the new season.
